Only Humans On The Inside

5-LUKE

The person he was looking at was not a stranger. He could see she was uncomfortable. Well, she was making him uncomfortable. She could have answered without connecting the image on her com. And she could stop making up excuses. He was not retarded. And she had been the one lefting him a message telling him that she needed to contact him.

She stopped talking and stared at him. He smiled and surveyed her body. He knew it well. She pulled the sheet more firmly around her naked body.

"So Callista. Are you going to tell me what you want or not?"

Callista blushed. He had that power on her. Well, not only on her, she knew.

"Oh Luke. I missed you you know?"

"Oh! It seems that I'm late then. You found yourself company!" He grinned.

"Ah that! Yes him "

A man come to appear on the com's screen. As Callista he was obviously naked, unlike her he was totally at ease and grinned back to Luke as he hugged and kissed her lightly on the face.

"Luke this is my new boyfriend, Camar."

"Hi there Camar!"

"The famous Luke Skywalker. A pleasure talking to you."

"So Calista. What was so urgent that you had to talk with me."

Luke was becoming impatient. He didn't mind her having boyfriends, or sleeping with them. She couldn't be so fool that she would think that he would be bothered by that. She always returned to him. A part of him wished she would find the right person. She was blushing. Camar was grinning.

"Well, Luke you see. Me and Camar were talking here and hmm.... He had this idea, and... You see, I like him very much and"

She was babling and didn't seem to be able to face Luke. Camar laughed and interrupted her.

"Well, it's like this. She still has the hots for you and I can only understand. Hey. I like you too! She told me you don't mind trying new things, so I wanted to invite you to join us!"

Luke blinked. Surprise had become an almost foreign emotion to him but he wasn't sure if he was understanding Camar correctly.

"You're too nice. Like meeting for a dinner. Callista is still my friend, of course that we can meet and...."

"Well, if you need to have a dinner first. But I think you understood well what I'm saying."

He winked, Calista gave a shy smile. Luke was silent.

"Why don't you think about it Luke. Give me and Camar a call when you decide."

He nodded and ended the call. Calling R2 he gave him a recorder file with the call. First he needed to find out who this Camar guy was, then he would think if he would think about their proposal.

He had to be careful. He only pretended that he didn't care about what people said about him, but the farmboy was still there and it was the part of him that wanted to be loved. Besides, he was a public figure.

He seated at his personal desk. Fan mail. He had a person to take care of that. Better said, Leia, had found him a person to take care of that, but still he liked to see some. And invitations. Parties, conferences, classes. So many things that if he decided to answer only a third of it he wouldn't have the time to sleep. Still, he took the time to attend some. It was important. For the Jedi. For him. Well, during some time he had been the Jedi.

People had been hungry for heroes when the empire was defeated. He had been the perfect one. He thought that they would leave him alone after a while. But they never got tired of him. For some years he had tried to be the dream of hero that the galaxy seemed to share, but one day he wake up wanting more for him. And so he decided to take some of the things they wanted to give him.

He knew exactly the day when that had happened. It still had the flavor and smell of frustration. It was her smell and it tasted like her. It had been the day when he had needed the human part of himself and he had failed. And so he had changed.

It wasn't difficult at all. He was already a sex symbol, he just learned to play the game well and life was there to be enjoyed. Some more conservative people didn't like it, but he was discrete, besides, they liked the idea of a kind of cool Jedi Master, his former image was too rigid and away. It remembered them the old days, and everything that went wrong eventually. Anyway he was not young anymore. And only fools would believe that after all he he went through he would be innocent.

Heroes had to die young. Or grow up and find new challenges.

He choose to find a new challenge. The Jedi. And all the things he didn't had while growing. The things that he had only dreamed off. Everybody would be pleased, everybody would gain.

He wasn't being able to concentrate. Not even with the help of the Force. He blamed Callista. It wasn't her fault. But he liked to blame her. Maybe it was something of the Dark Side, but he didn't really care. Part of him felt guilty for having used her like that. That had been of the Dark side, using her for revenge. But she didn't  seem to care, so, why should him.

Would Ben or his father thought bad of his way of life? The new jedi didn't seem to mind. The galaxy didn't care to have a playboy with so much force power. He still did his job and well.

But every time he meditated on the subject he knew that he would never be at ease. Not until he faced the reason of his frustration. And he would not humiliate himself and face her. Too many years passed and too many things had happened.

He grabbed an holo of her. His forbidden lust. Because that was not love that he felt. He had loved and it was not that. Maybe it had been love, but it was killed the moment they had sex together.

And suddenly he felt something powerful in the force. Anguish and despair.

"Leia!"

6 -FEET

Boba Feet didn't like to show his face. It took some of his power away. But Mara was not everyone so, sometimes, when he needed to talk he presented her with his true features.

When he called her he had been afraid. Had he not been so lost in his thoughts and would noticed that she had been uncomfortable. But she was never uncomfortable. Not Mara. She had said something about an odd mission or so, but he didn't care. He needed a friend.

They were at a discreet little pub, Coruscant deep core. Not the type where bounty hunters or mercenaries went. It was even half decent and it gave some privacy.

He was sitting in front of her. A man, not a masked warrior. And he was trying to tell her how he felt.

"Fett, are you trying to tell me that you are in love?"

He looked at her with big, sad eyes.

"Don't tell me you don't know how it is!"

He regretted the sentence as soon as he told it. For a second Mara gave something away. What was it? Pain? Regret? He wanted to know more. But as soon as she regained control he knew it would take some time before he saw her off guard again.

Fett knew her for some time now. He had met her shortly before she started working for Karrde. He had tried to fool her on some forgotten spaceport and still had a scar to remind him that it had been a bad decision to do so. They remained what would be called friends, if they were the type of person that had friends. She was the most stable and cold person he ever knew. He was a big fan of her.

She was beautiful. A classical and smooth beauty that would have belonged in another place and that make him think of ancient times. That was maybe what make him to confide in her. She reminded him the figures that illustrated the stories his father used to tell him when he was really little.  She had the face of childhood for him.

Of course she didn't knew it. She would never know. But that was also the reason why he had never thought about making a pass on her. She was the mother he never had.

"Yes mom, I think I'm in love."

Mara almost spit her drink.

"What did you called me?"

"Mara. I called you Mara, of course. Your name."

It was not the first time he called her mom or mother. He couldn't help it. It was automatic. But it was disturbing of course. Thank the god of bounty hunters that she found it as disturbing as he did. If she decided to start telling that as a joke he would have to vanish.

"Well, anyway,Mara, I think I'm in love."

"And you want to bring her home for dinner  so I can give you both my blessing and ask for grandchildren?"

"Very funny Jade"

She grabbed his arm, hard.

"You have to stop calling me mom!"

"Ok. Ok. I got your point. You're hurting me. That's not very motherly of you."

She let him go.

"So, you're in love. And?"

"I think this time she is really the one! She is wonderful. Good pilot, good fighter. I mean she has a prize upon her head in 6 systems"

He was really grinning like a fool while saying that.

"You're not talking about Miss Coruscant this time."

"Oh no. That one didn't knew what to do with a thermal detonator. I was consuming spice for sure"

Fett's formal crush had been Miss Coruscant.

"Well, Fett, this one seems a wonderful girl. Wouldn't mind meet her for tea, but you know I don't drink tea."

"Yes, but still I need your help!"

Mara raised an eyebrow.

"Yes?"

"Can you lend us your apartment for a couple of nights?"
